Serial killer Robert Pickton has died in hospital 11 days after being attacked by another inmate at a prison in Quebec, Canada. Pickton, 74, had been serving a life sentence for the murders of six women. A 51-year-old inmate has been charged with the assault.
Pickton was attacked on May 19 at the Port-Cartier Institution in Canadas Quebec. He was taken to hospital in critical condition and died on May 30. The correctional service is investigating the assault.
Pickton was convicted in 2007 of six counts of second-degree murder. He was also charged with 20 other murders, but those charges were stayed in 2010. Pickton's crimes were among the most horrific in Canadian history.
